Professor at Stanford University – USA solicited the College of Business Administration – USTF to Share Research Expertise

Professor Lisa Blaydes has solicited the research expertise of Dr. Abdallah Elamin - Associate Professor of Management at the College of Business Administration - University of Science and Technology in Fujairah. Prof Lisa asked to borrow the sole standard scale (Arabic Version) that developed by Dr. Elamin to measure the attitudes toward women who work in the Arab Muslim context. Dr.  Lisa is a Professor of Political Science, Public Administration, and Gender Studies at Stanford University – the second top university in the world ranked after the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT).  Professor Lisa research interests are in the fields of international, political and gender studies in the world and the Middle East.
Professor Lisa relied on Dr. Elamin’s research in the areas of attitudes and behavior towards women who work and gender in management, where Dr. Elamin developed a multidimensional scale (Arabic Version) to measure attitudes and behavior toward women who work in the Arab Muslim societies in the light of the original developed scale (MAWWWS). Dr. Elamin has tested and validated the newly developed version of the scale to confirm its validity and reliability in the Arab-Islamic context. His research work using this scale has been published in the “Personnel Review Journal”, and has significantly contributed to enriching the scientific knowledge about women who work in the Arab-Islamic region in the academic circles.

UNESCO chair for women in Science and Technology had honored Prof. Sumia Sir El khatim Mohamed, Dean College of Pharmacy and Health Sciences at University of Science and Technology of Fujairah 

UNESCO chair for women in Science and Technology had honored Prof. Sumia Sir El khatim Mohamed, Dean College of Pharmacy and Health Sciences at University of Science and Technology of Fujairah, during the chair celebrations of the International Women’s Day which took place on Tuesday February 11, 2020.
Prof. Sumia was nominated earlier by Her Excellence Prof. Fadwa Abdulrahman Ali Taha, Vice Chancellor of the University of Khartoum, along with 9 other female full professors from the University of Khartoum, to be honored for their unlimited giving to serve the science and the community. The celebration was held in collaboration with the UNESCO office in Khartoum, World Association of Sustainable Development, Sudanese National Committee for Education, Science and culture, Knowledge Transfer Program, Secretariat of Sudanese Working Abroad. Under the auspice of Her Excellence Professor Intisar Elzein Segayroon, Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research in Sudan.
It is worth mentioning that the UNESCO chair for women in Science and Technology was established in 2003 at the University of Sciences and Technology (Sudan). It serves the purpose of promoting an integrated system of research, training, information and documentation activities in the field of Women, Science and technology. Also It serves as a means of facilitating collaboration between high-level, internationally recognized researchers and teaching staff of the University and other institutions in the Arab States and Europe. The chair also aims to improve the level of participation and leadership of women in science, technology and innovation, and supporting structural changes in scientific organizations to achieve this aim. In addition to that, it promotes the advancement in integrating creative women in research, technology and innovation, and in higher education curricula in advanced and applied areas.

The College of Pharmacy and Health Sciences at University of Science and Technology of Fujairah had set an interactive platform to represent the College and the University at Dubai International Pharmaceuticals and Technologies Conference and Exhibition (DUPHAT 2020), which was held at the Dubai World Trade Center over three days from 25th to 27th February 2020.

The 25th edition of the conference comes under the patronage and in the presence of His Highness Sheikh Hamdan bin Rashid Al Maktoum - Deputy Ruler of Dubai, Minister of Finance and Chairman of the Dubai Health Authority, who kindly inaugurated the conference and the accompanying exhibitions in the presence of a number of dignitaries working in the health sectors in the country and abroad as well as pharmaceutical experts from all over the world.
This year, the exhibition witnesses the celebration of the Silver Jubilee for it as the largest medical event specialized in the field of pharmacy and pharmaceutical technologies in the region, whose statistics in this year have reached new records that witnessed the attendance of 156 professional speakers from the region and the entire world and included in its rich agenda 171 pharmaceutical scientific sessions and 840 displays of scientific posters for participating students as well as the specialized pharmacists in the various scientific and practical pharmaceutical fields. It also included 22 interactive workshops, and the event attracted over 33 thousand visitors and participants from the UAE and aboard during its three days from more than 75 countries.
During the exhibition days, the college platform witnessed a large turnout from the exhibition's audience, who came to know about the academic programs and activities adopted by the college to support the students' march in both academic and life aspects. The introductory platform also included a special corner to introduce the various colleges of the University of Science and Technology of Fujairah, which offers many distinguished academic programs in the fields of medicine, pharmacy, engineering, information technology, management, mass communication, science, humanities and law. The platform also witnessed a presentation of the university’s distinguished scholarships and discounts for new students and academically distinguished students, and various activities supervised by the Deanship of Student Affairs at the University.
It is worth noting that the college has participated in the conference with 8 scientific posters that dealt with several topics in various pharmaceutical sectors. The first poster was titled " Community Awareness about the Relationship between Type II and  Type III Diabetes and their diagnosis and Management" and was presented by students: Rahaf Abdulrahim Alfayyomy, Reem Abdulrahim Alfayyomy, Meirah Ali Alsereidi, under the supervision of Prof. Sumia S. Mohamed. The second poster, it was titled " Angina or Heartburn: All what you need to know ", presented by students, Ayaa Raad Mustafa, Anfal Ali Mohamed, under the supervision of Prof. Sumia S. Mohamed, and the two students also presented their participation in the form of a scientific oral presentation in front of the Participation Assessment Committee. The third poster, entitled " Herb Drug Interaction" presented by students Rahaf Abdulrahim Alfayyomy, Reem Abdulrahim Alfayyomy, Meirah Ali Alsereidi, Dania Mohamad Kanawati, under the supervision of Dr. Ebrahim Abu El Fetouh Shandal. The fourth poster, entitled "Circadian Rhythm and Effect of Medical Plants on Clock-Related Diseases ", presented by students: Sumaia Najib Al-Haddad, Sarah Aws Hani, Basma Mustafa Dalloun, under the supervision of Dr. Ebrahim Abu El Fetouh Shandal. The Fifth poster, it was entitled " Of all the known NSAIDS, why is aspirin unique in its mechanism of action?" It was presented by students Nour Gassan Achram, Ahed Maysara Al Kharraz, Dana Kamal Hussein, under the supervision of Dr. Babiker El Haj, and the students also presented their participation in the form of oral scientific presentation in front of the Participation Assessment Committee. The sixth poster, it was entitled "Dispensing Protein Therapeutics" and was presented by students, Saja Anwar Alnasiri, Norhan Elmitwalli elkadi, Thoria Emad Eldesouki, under the supervision of Dr. Mousa Adel Qarawi. The seventh poster, it was entitled "Recombinant Insulin Analogues", and it was presented by the students, Baraka Yousuf Ewer, Yasamin Abdulrahim Soufi, under the supervision of Dr. Mousa Adel Qarawi. The eighth poster, titled "Role of Artificial Intelligence (AI) in Drug Discovery and Development", it was presented by students: Khadeijah Saeed Alhmoudi, and Wafa Saeed Alyammahi, Alaa Mohammed Hasan, under the supervision of Dr. Srinivasan Ramamurthy.
As for the category of scientific posters for specialists, Dr. Yaser Mohammed Al- Worafi, with a scientific poster titled "Development and Validation of Medication Dispensing quality indicators", Dr. Yasser also presented his participation in the form of a scientific lecture. Also Srinivasan Ramamurthy had participated with a scientific poster entitled " Molecular Understanding of the Protective Role of Hyperoside on Cardiac and Metabolic Diseases". At the end of the exhibition days, the college’s participation culminated in the victory of one of the scientific posters in the third place entitled “Role of Artificial Intelligence (AI) in Drug Discovery and Development” authored by students: Khadeijah Saeed Alhmoudi, and Wafa Saeed Alyammahi, Alaa Mohammed Hasan, under the supervision of Dr. Srinivasan Ramamurthy - Assistant Professor at the College.
Prof. Sumia Ser Al Khatim - Acting Dean of the College of Pharmacy and Health Sciences – appreciated efforts made by college students and professors to represent the college and university in an optimal way and also enrich the academic life of students by engaging with their peers from college students in the entire Arab world during their period of participation in the conference activities.

USTF, College of Dentistry participation in 24nd Edition of AEEDC Dubai 2020 

College of Dentistry at University of Science and Technology of Fujairah participated in the UAE International Dental Conference & Arab Dental Exhibition from 4-6 February 2020 in Dubai. It was held under the patronage of His Highness Sheikh Hamdan Bin Rashid Al Maktoum Deputy Ruler of Dubai, Minister of Finance, President of the Dubai Health Authority. The conference was held at the Dubai International Convention and Exhibition centre with the participation of a number of regional and international officials, heads of delegation, representatives from more than 130 countries, and more than 4700 company.
AEEDC Dubai is becoming one of the most valuable sources and an effective platform of providing continuing education in the dental field through the means of lectures, advanced workshops, posters and a specialized dental exhibition, which all play a major role in Dental Education. All the clinical staff from the College of Dentistry/ University of Science and Technology of Fujairah attended the 3 days event along with more than 100 students from 3rd, 4th and 5th year levels (preclinical and clinical levels). It was a good opportunity for updating the clinical knowledge and exposure to the most advanced and modern equipment and technologies at the trade fair. Dr.Israa Al-Aubi, Faculty Member participated in poster judgment of scientific posters participating in this conference.

 

The 13th Student Scientific Conference

At University of Science and Technology of Fujairah under the Slogan, Forward Together with Research and Innovation to the Emirates Next Fifty During the Period 27-28 April 2021
University of Science and Technology of Fujairah (USTF) believes in the necessity of  continuing the co-curricular and extra-curricular annual students’ activities, despite the outbreak of the COVID-19, which has reached a pandemic stage, forcing students all over the country, including our USTF students, to shift to distance learning, in accordance with the instructions of the Ministry of Education (MOE) in the United Arab Emirates (UAE), to protect students and ensure the continuity of the educational process. The annual regularly held Student Scientific Conference is one of the most important annual activities at USTF and has been organized without interruption for the last thirteen years in a row. This year, the conference was held on Tuesday and Wednesday, 27th and 28th of April 2021, under the slogan "Forward Together with Research and Innovation to the Emirates Next Fifty."
All students were invited to participate in the conference, especially those who are about to graduate because of their advanced experience in conducting research. Guidelines for conference participation and presentations were announced to students, along with the research evaluation criteria. Students were asked to address the main themes of the conference and its slogan, as a part of the university social responsibility and to highlight the students’ role in effective contribution to important national and global challenges.
