Job Responsibilities :

- Work with linked databases to include security, data safety and integrity, disaster recovery, and development and implementation of bulk data import/export procedures.
- Assist in planning and implementing system security policy, to include firewalls, host and client access, file permissions, and user accounts.
- Design and develop advanced methods and procedures for collecting, organizing, interpreting, and classifying data for input and/or retrieval.
- Research, evaluate, purchase, install, configure, and troubleshoot all hardware, peripherals, and equipment necessary to meet integrated systems objectives.
- Troubleshoot networks, systems, and applications to identify and correct malfunctions and other operational problems.
- Develop and implement various training and instruction programs for users on the use of operating systems, networking, applications, and databases.
- Provide on-call consulting advice and technical support to various users/client organizations regarding specific operational/applications issues.
- Investigate, analyze, and resolve complex hardware problems on University computer systems.
- Perform advanced hardware repairs, maintenance, technical assistance, and support on a wide range of PC-based computers and peripherals.
- Provide advanced technical assistance, support, and troubleshooting in the resolution of system communications failures and conflicts.
- Perform routine, day-to-day hardware and software maintenance as assigned, and assists in proper upkeep and utilization of systems.
- Evaluate existing computer systems hardware, and perform system upgrades, based on end user requirements
- Install, integrate, customize, configure, and test new systems and hardware to resolve any configuration conflicts or errors.
- Provide general technical guidance and assistance to end users, as requested, on diverse software applications, operating systems, and hardware systems.
- Perform miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned.

- Knowledge of a wide range of computer systems software, network systems, protocols, applications, hardware, networking, and communications.
- Ability to plan, create, program and manage complex statistical computer databases.
- Knowledge of data security, backup, and disaster recovery systems and procedures.
- Knowledge and understanding of LAN administration in a secure environment.
- Ability to determine computer problems and to coordinate hardware and/or software solutions.
